Saint Joseph of Arimathea Theological College
Michaelmas Course Offerings
As time goes by the Seminary wants very much to offer classes in which the laity will be able to participate more fully. Indeed, the primary goal remains to prepare men for Holy Orders, but a well-educated laity (including our youth and confirmands) is equally important for a successful Province of Christ the King. We have been asked about a Mission Statement; and here it is, that we educate and re-educate and re-educate our clergy and laity in the fundamentals of the Faith once delivered to the saints.
On Tuesdays at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (6:00 p.m. Mountain Time, 7:00 p.m. Central Time, and 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time), Archbishop Schultz will teach the first half of his Survey of the 1928 Book of Common Prayer. This class (and its spring second half) is an excellent refresher course especially for laity and clergy who did not matriculate from St. Joseph’s. This class will begin on September 17th.
On Wednesday September 18th, Bishop Ashman will teach a class on the development of early Christian Theology based on the first seven Ecumenical Councils. This class will be designed for clergy and laity, especially deacons who are looking to advance to the priesthood. This class will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time, Noon Mountain Time, 1:00 p.m. Central Time and 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
On Thursday (beginning September 19th) at 5:00 p.m. and Saturday (beginning September 21) at 11:00 a.m. (both Pacific Time), Bishop Ashman will teach a Confirmation Class for both those who want a Confirmation Class refresher and those who want to teach Confirmation Classes. Like Archbishop Schultz’s Prayer Book class, this course is an excellent review of our fundamentals.
(note changes here) On Fridays (beginning September 20) Bishop Ashman will resume his second year Greek and third year Latin classes at 10:00.a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time. There are two people interested in first year Ecclesiastical Latin. The class will be offered tentatively on Friday afternoons at 3:00 p.m.
